The Story Beyond The Court
Council knew his purpose had something to do with basketball but he wasn’t sure what it would all entail after he had to alter his plans. Instead of losing hope he ignited his passion in his local community.
Through entrepreneurship Sterling plans to continue making an impact and teaching youth there is a life beyond the court.
More about BTC
The annual Beyond The Court Basketball Camp trains over 100 male and female athletes to help accelerate their individual skills, increase their confidence, and prepare them to compete at the next level.
Through his efforts to make a difference in his community, Sterling Council organized BTC Basketball Camp in 2015 to help youth in Kershaw County and surrounding areas develop and improve key habits and fundamental skills in order to stand out and succeed both on and off the court.
Through interactions with professional athletes, educational speakers, and yoga instructors, campers improve their physical skills and techniques, learn proper training methodologies, develop leadership and good sportsmanship, and learn the importance of healthy lifestyles and relationships in a safe, fun, and motivating environment.
In partnership with Mid Carolina Credit Union, the campers are able to experience and learn the importance of financial literacy in a fun, safe way. Financial literacy is a great way to provide the youth with the basics to understanding the world they live in so that they can contribute to their community as capable and knowledge young citizens.
Sterling Council assembles a team of dynamic past and present athletes that are eager to help campers to improve their overall game while teaching the fundamentals and principles of basketball.
